Munnings Historic Residential

A prolific educator, community advocate, and sorority chapter founder, Mrs. Elizabeth Stubbs-Munnings has been a trailblazer in the City of West Palm Beach for over 90 years. Her lifelong dedication to education for the School District of Palm Beach County and her unyielding community service has left an indomitable imprint on West Palm Beach. Her husband, Charles S. Munnings, was also a leader in education and served as the founding Principal of Roosevelt Elementary in 1957. Mrs. Munnings loves the city of West Palm Beach where she grew up and was instrumental in acquiring the Historic status for her childhood residence at 914 10th Street, West Palm Beach, FL which is in the Progressive Northwest neighborhood, known for its rich African American culture.
This historically aged building was vacant for many years, and recently renovated by Randolph Construction Group, a Palm Beach County based firm. Because of this renovation, Mrs. Munnings received The Preservation Award for the MUNNINGS HISTORIC RENOVATION (multifamily residence renovation) in the City of West Palm Beach. In addition, the Palm Beach County Historical Society enthusiastically honored Elizabeth Stubbs-Munnings with the Fannie James Pioneer Achievement Award recognizing her significant contributions to the West Palm Beach community at-large. She has also been recognized for her significant role in combating racism and promoting equality in West Palm Beach through her work in education, community activism, racial inclusion, and cultural preservation.
